The Confession of a Masochist, his most successful play so far, premiered in January 2011, and has been presented in Estonia, Switzerland, Germany, France, Brazil and Russia. Other texts by the author have been presented by Feste Theatre, Švandovo Theatre, National Theatre Brno or National Theatre Prague. He has written more than twenty theatre and radio plays, many of which have been translated into German, French, Hungarian or Slovak; selected texts are part of the book Plays: Labyrinth of the World and Paradise of the Whip, 2016. In 2007, the documentary movie Sikora: A Small Personal Marketing Epic was shot about the author and his production (directed by Ivo Bystřičan).

In 1993–1999, he studied directing and literary management at the Janáček Academy of Performing Arts. He worked as a night receptionist at the Brno City Theatre in 1995–2007. In 2005–2009, he was an editor of the Art column in Literary Newspaper weekly. Since the establishment of the online Referendum Daily in 2009, he has been writing about theatre and was later appointed the head of the Culture column. He has been currently writing for the daily only externally. After 2007, he was a theatre reviewer for Czech Radio 3 – Vltava and Lidové noviny, his texts have been published in World and Theatre magazine or online daily A2larm. Since 2001, he has been an external teacher at the DAMU in Prague. He occasionally translates from Polish.

Roman Sikora received the Alfréd Radok Award (2nd place, The Detritus of Antigone, 1997), in 2017, he won the Talking About Borders dramatic competition organized by the State Theatre Nuremberg with his play The Chateau of the Loire Valley (premiere in June 2018).
