The international get-together of Central European theatres Palm Off Fest will take place from 15 October to 21 November 2020 at Pod Palmovkou Theatre. The fifth edition’s subtitle is the motto [untitled yet].

The festival opens with the production of Alpha performed by the Lithuanian company Operamanija directed by the acknowledged theatre director and visual artist GoraParazit. The program will also include the showcase of the most intriguing film documentaries, stage readings, and discussions with the authors. The complete programme of the festival will be available in August 2020. The ticket can be purchased at

It is the fifth time Palm Off Fest has presented the most outstanding theatremakers and performances from Central Europe. “This year’s subtitle [untitled yet] refers to the unexpected events this year and the associated process of changes, as well as the process of making a production when the work may be open and unnamed until the very last moments of rehearsals,” explains programmer Jan Jiřík.

The fifth edition of Palm Off Fest will open on 15 October 2020 with Operomanija from Lithuania, the experimental company dealing with new opera. It will stage the production Alpha directed by the acknowledged theatre director and visual artist with the artistic pseudonym of GoraParazit. Alpha is inspired by the story of Isabella García Lorca, who returns to Spain after many years of emigration to reveal the mysterious death of her brother, the famous poet and playwright Federico García Lorca. Yet the circumstances of his death remain unclear and the truth is much more complicated than it may seem.

“The programme of the festival will be available at the end of August 2020. We will present extraordinary Central European ensembles, whose work is difficult to access for Czech audiences, thus it remains unknown. The important part of the festival is discussions – every performance will be followed by discussions among audiences, directors, actors, and programmers,” says Michal Lang, the director of the festival and Pod Palmovkou Theatre.
