The new channel Televize Naživo will appear in the terrestrial broadcast on Friday, 20 November 2020, at 8 p.m. It is a joint project of Cirk La Putyka, Jatka78, and Viktor Tauš’s Heaven Gate company. It aims to present the TV viewers with the works of theatremakers whose performances cannot be staged live in the theatres due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Naživo TV will offer up-to-date live theater and music productions, as well as performances for children. The TV programme Naživo will cover the production of Cirk La Putyka, Jatka78, Amerikánka, the Theatre on the Balustrade, and Minor. Moreover, viewers will be able to watch performances and concerts sets in the live environment of Film naživo, Talk Show by the Vosto5 company inspired by the series Kupé v lese, concerts of Lenka Dusilová, Bára Poláková, and Czech Philharmonic. Mornings will be dedicated to Domanéž, exercises with circus acrobats, and late evenings will see Late Night Show with cabarets, burlesque, music, dance, and magic.

“The point of the exchange of inspiration and our works is not to launch our TV,” said the director Tauš, who has founded the project with Rosťa Novák Jr. and Štěpán Kubišta. “It should be the mediator of service and duty based on the essence of our work, i.e. mediating live culture for people who need it. The goal is to create a counterbalance to strenuous lives and fears induced by the official communication of the pandemic that divides and confronts us like potential murderers of one another. The goal is a service that is carried out by public television in the ideal world in the time of the crisis. In the Czech Republic, we have to do it ourselves.”

Television also comes with the concept of live commercials. These are not the pre-recorded commercials as we know them from the traditional TV broadcast, but those performed live in real-time. “We will also offer a puppet commercial played by the best puppeteers in the Czech Republic,” the authors promise.

The specific programmes can be replayed in the paid archive of the website Half of the subscription amount will go to the companies and half will fund the new programmes.

All programmes in the paid archive will have the multicamera format. The application will allow the viewers to edit the steady take with other cameras. There will be micro-cameras installed in actors’ costumes and cameras monitoring the musicians at concerts.
