The award for drama actors up to 33 years of age went to 27-year-old Josef Láska who has worked in the East Bohemian Theatre in Pardubice for six years. The organizers always tried to connect with all five nominees, so that they can learn about the jury’s decision live.

Tereza Groszmannová won the Thalia Award for drama in her performance of Mirandolina at the National Theatre in Brno. Petr Štěpán gave an outstanding performance in Gombár’s Paradise Lost at the Municipal Theatre Brno.

The puppet theatre category is now independent and the Thalia Award went to Ondřej Nosálek for his performance Zá-to-pek in Minor, Prague. The new independent category is also alternative theatre, with the prize given to Jakub Gottwald for his role in the authorial drama Ur-fascism performed by STK Theatre Concept in association with the Krajina přílivu company.

As far as musicals are concerned, Erika Stárková won the Thalia Award for her role of the Girl in Bowie’s Lazarus at the Prague City Theatres. The category of men was dominated by Pavel Režný for his performance in Elisabeth in the J. K. Tyl Theatre in Pilsen.

Jana Šrejma Kačírková won her third Thalia Award for opera for her performance of Three Fragments from Juliette / The Human Voice at the National Theatre Brno. Lukáš Zeman drew the jury’s attention with his performance in The Marriage of Figaro in the Silesian Theatre. Both ballet Thalia Awards went to the National Theatre for Alina Nanu (in Onegin) and Ondřej Vinklát (Kafka: The Trial).

The Czech theatremakers’ academy gave out their award for the extraordinary contribution to the Czech theatre art. It went to Zdeněk Svěrák last year and this year is in the name of the theatre teacher, theoretician, and dramaturge Jaroslav Vostrý. The award winners for their achievements are actors Hana Bauerová and Josef Abrhám, Jan Malík for opera, Aneta Voleská for ballet, and musical actress Hana Talpová. Another award went to the cameraman Josef Špelda for the promotion of theatre art.
